A Child
playing on the ground.
An Adult comes,
the castle collapses,
she settles in another grassland.
The school pronounces wrongly
her name, and children
giggling ask,
Where are you from.
Why? she says,
I come from afar.
She takes the train to dig up
her lost snowman, only to find
a hostile kingdom
whose entrance code has changed.
Un Enfant
jouant à même le sol.
Un Adulte arrive,
le château s’effondre,
elle s’installe dans une autre contrée.
L’école prononce mal
son nom et les enfants
demandent en gloussant,
D’où viens-tu.
Pourquoi ? dit-elle,
Je viens de loin.
Elle prend le train pour déterrer
son bonhomme de neige égaré,
seulement pour trouver un royaume hostile
dont le code d’entrée a changé.
